The snow banks by the road slowly reveal items of nature that have been hidden for the past few months.
This oak leaf sinks daily into its little bed of snow until it will eventually reach the ground.

A black and white version of yesterday’s post.
The canoe routes to the West of Canada entered Lake Nipissing a little to the South of this location and disappeared into the mouth of the French River on the horizon to the left. Canoes passed this way Spring and Fall for over 100 years.

One year ago today, this was the view from Sunset Park looking west across Lake Nipissing.
Today it looks pretty much the same.

North Bay is blessed with an alpine ski hill situated inside town. The hill has been operating for over 50 years and has provided recreational opportunities for North Bay people, and at least two World Champions have grown up here and learned their craft.
Today was a busy day at the hill.

On Jan 7 this photo was made at -30 C. There was hope that the weather would moderate for the rest of the winter.
Faint hopes have been dashed by one of the colder winters to be remembered around here.
All that has changed is we now have more snow. Please tell me you believe in Spring!
