It’s A Wetland Not A Swamp

Good for the soul,

Not useless.

To be preserved,

Not filled in.

A Heron Walk

Let’s walk with a Great Blue Heron along the shore of Lake Nosbonsing. He(?) was looking for breakfast.

This guy was very patient with me.

What remarkable birds they are.

Great Blue Heron

Great Blue Herons are found on Lake Nosbonsing. They are quite wary and they tend to jump up and fly away when they think you are getting too close. “Too close” is usually about twice as far as you think it should be because you mean them no harm.

But they don’t know that and so they take no chances.

They are elegant and graceful flyers, their large wings making beautiful curves as they move through the air.

Blue Heron

I visited Eau Claire Gorge yesterday and paused on the bridge which crosses the Amable du Fond River.

The heron was not disturbed by my presence or by the occasional car crossing.

It was just enjoying the fall colours, I guess.
