Cold this morning on the ice. Looked back at the shore and noticed the birches lit by reflected light from the ice.

Wasi Falls
Winter weather is supposed to begin moderating near the end of February and early March, but there is no sign that this is happening this year. Today’s high was -16C. Tonight’s low is forecast at -30C.
To keep hope alive, I’m publishing a photograph I made last summer just to help me stay warm.

Brick Wall
Old houses in North Bay were built with red brick.
As time caught up with them, changes were made to accommodate newer lifestyles and other requirements. Some of the original features of the house are still evident in this photograph. The bricked in window and the re-bricked door are two. The external wires for cable TV and telephone, and the modern electrical conduit on the outside of the house all speak to changing lifestyle needs. The external fire escape tells of the change from what was most likely a single family home to a multiple-unit boarding/apartment house.

Revelstoke
I spent last week at Revelstoke skiing. It is a pretty spectacular hill – most vertical in North America – and steep.
Great view of the Columbia River from the top of the Stoker Chair.
During the week approximately 3 feet of snow fell, making it a great week of powder.
