The clean lines and symmetry of this house are very comfortable.

Private Drive
Impeccable collection of geometric shapes.
I will be at the Elks Club tomorrow presenting prints and cards at the Treehouse Boutique Show. I thought that I would publish early since I will be quite busy setting up in the early morning. I hope to see you there.

Brick Wall
Old houses in North Bay were built with red brick.
As time caught up with them, changes were made to accommodate newer lifestyles and other requirements. Some of the original features of the house are still evident in this photograph. The bricked in window and the re-bricked door are two. The external wires for cable TV and telephone, and the modern electrical conduit on the outside of the house all speak to changing lifestyle needs. The external fire escape tells of the change from what was most likely a single family home to a multiple-unit boarding/apartment house.

Simple Shapes
Architecture at its simplest:
Rectangles and triangles.
There is elegance to simple accommodation in our modern, ornate, over-decorated world.

Modest House
Simpler, smaller, more elegant than the mansions being built these days.
There is a nice architectural mix of symmetry and asymmetry which I find interesting.

Symmetry
This house has always been a favourite.
There is a gentle and pleasing symmetry to its design.
In my mind it has a very English feel to it.
I am reminded of “The Wind in the Willows” whenever I see it.

Fun With Filters
This is the last day of a trial download of a set of photoshop plugin filters.
So here goes!
Photo of an active house in winter. A bit of warming, application of the Polaroid Backing filter and nice border plus fooling with the tint in the PS saturation adjustment layer set on soft light.
Kinda wierd but it works.(?)

Colour
Pride is evident in the care and neatness of these small houses.
Colour expresses the optimism and hope of many whose lives might be considered less than easy.
In my part of the world this spirit is missing in the decoration of houses and other buildings. Is it possible that as life gets better we lose the need to express our joy?
