Summer Extension

Generally in this part of the world, the door to Summer is considered to close on Labour Day Weekend.

Occasionally Mother Nature forgets and leaves it wide open for another week or so.

When that happens, gloriously calm and luxurious afternoons occur.

The illusion that this will continue forever is strong, despite the certain knowledge that it can’t come true.

Lake Nipissing shows itself at its best during these special times.

Cedar Grove

I have made many photographs of this little grove of cedars over the years.

Each time reveals a new way to see it.

Here, a warm comfortable way to feel about Winter.

Squawk!

With three feet of snow in the bush, it’s hard to think that days like this are in the near future.

Wasi Falls

Winter weather is supposed to begin moderating near the end of February and early March, but there is no sign that this is happening this year. Today’s high was -16C. Tonight’s low is forecast at -30C.

To keep hope alive, I’m publishing a photograph I made last summer just to help me stay warm.

I feel better already!

January Thaw

Every January after freezing one’s butt off, the weather warms for a day or three and rain comes. Fog arrives with the opportunity for photographs like this.
