Sweetman’s Kids

These intensely coloured flowers were grown in Sweetman’s Garden by the members of the North Bay Horticultural Society Youth Program.

Quiet Creek

My daughter and her family have a lovely “waterfront” property near Rochester, NY.  Last week I spent some time “fishing” for photographs on her waterfront.

The Good ‘Ol Days

Frog Lord

A friend has a lovely little water feature on her farm.  The little pond is teeming with small leopard frogs watched over by a benevolent Frog Lord who she created.

The kids enjoy watching and counting the small creatures in this quiet corner.

A newly emerged poppy bursts forth with intense colour:

Textured Lupine

I have been playing with texture overlays recently.  Here is an attempt using a close-up of a lupine.

Subtly used, textures can add a bit of snap to a photo.

Hosta

Hostas are plants that have elegant curves and surfaces.

They are unspectacularly spectacular in their form and design.

This is the flower:

This is the Royal insect:

And the plant is milkweed, which is a necessary part of the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly.

Now I’m sure you feel better about your world!
