Yesterday morning, a reminder that winter is near.
I haven’t got the summer stuff put away yet!

On the west side of town is Duchesnay Falls. The creek that feeds the falls usually doesn’t carry much water but with the early spring weather, lots of water is flowing.
We visited yesterday.

Visited the boat launch area in Callander yesterday. The exceptional warm weather of the past two weeks has sounded the warning to get the ice huts off the bay. This past weekend saw lots of activity around the boat launch and parking lot.
When the ice goes bad, the small Tardises (Tardae?) must be put somewhere.

The sun and the warm temperatures have beaten the ski hill to death extremely early this year. No more local skiing this early in March. It is sad to see the season ending so soon.
Perhaps there is something to this “Global Warming” thing!

Friends were out on our lake a couple of days ago doing some ice fishing.
There is three feet of ice to keep the truck from going to the bottom. It is a 1971 Fargo by the way.
On a day like this no-one cares if fish are caught or not. It’s just great to be out on the ice.

Walked in the bush near the cottage yesterday. Spring appears to have arrived about two weeks early but it is really pleasant outside so why worry?
Quiet and quite warm for March.

A sunny day today and so with some cloud in the sky we make another visit to Ice Follies on Lake Nipissing.

Darlings Harbour in Callander is the entry point for the traffic going to the ice-fishing huts on Callander Bay.
Quiet way to spend a day.

On the ice of Lake Nipissing is an intriguing exhibition of structures and installation art. Several interesting pieces stand in the sun, wind, snow, cold, dark, to provide messages and analyses of our world.
See: THIS LINK for more.
For description of the works and the artists see: ICE FOLLIES
Neat way to spend an afternoon!

I spend Sunday mornings at our local ski hill helping the Nipissing Trackers provide an on-snow sliding program for disabled children. The Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth (NADY) is the sponsoring body and tremendous cooperation is provided by the ski hill as well.
This photo symbollizes the objectives of the Nipissing Trackers and of NADY.
It’s a very rewarding activity and you get paid in smiles. What could be better?

On the lake in front of our place there is a good deal of traffic. Each track can be used to make a bit of a story.
Or used to do some detective work.

By the newly paved Highway 63 in Redbridge, this vehicle is parked for the winter.
“We all live in a yellow submarine…”, will now play over and over in my head for the rest of the day.
