It may be a bit early to be using the term as we haven’t had much cold weather but this past weekend was particularly nice.
The water is not too cold yet for a bit of kayaking:
Another advantage of living in the North!

This neat compact house is in Callander, Ontario, on the main street.
Callander is a neat place, quiet and yet close to “The Big Smoke” (North Bay).
It is famous as the birthplace of the Dionne Quints, but that excitement is long past.

This morning was marvellous. Sun, no wind, not cold.
It rained last Thursday and Friday turning the snow on the ice to slush which then froze on Saturday. The lake is now skateable for the most part.
An intrepid snowmobile driver tried the slush late Friday afternoon. Snowmobiles and slush do not go well together. The track has since frozen. He had a very tough time going anywhere, but he succeeded. His machine is not frozen into the lake anywhere near here.

A bit of stored sunshine from the summer!

The sun and the warm temperatures have beaten the ski hill to death extremely early this year. No more local skiing this early in March. It is sad to see the season ending so soon.
Perhaps there is something to this “Global Warming” thing!

Then the gentle processing of maple syrup will begin.
