Indian Summer

It may be a bit early to be using the term as we haven’t had much cold weather but this past weekend was particularly nice.

The water is not too cold yet for a bit of kayaking:

Another advantage of living in the North!

Sunny House

This neat compact house is in Callander, Ontario, on the main street.

Callander is a neat place, quiet and yet close to “The Big Smoke” (North Bay).

It is famous as the birthplace of the Dionne Quints, but that excitement is long past.

…On The Dock of The Bay…

Not quite as relaxing as the song.  But pretty nice anyway…

Spring Morning

This morning was marvellous.  Sun, no wind, not cold.

It rained last Thursday and Friday turning the snow on the ice to slush which then froze on Saturday.  The lake is now skateable for the most part.

An intrepid snowmobile driver tried the slush late Friday afternoon.  Snowmobiles and slush do not go well together.  The track has since frozen.  He had a very tough time going anywhere, but he succeeded.  His machine is not frozen into the lake anywhere near here.

Patterns

Sunlight, new snow and ordinary objects often interact to give intriguing patterns:

Looking downward when you’re outside can be rewarding. (Often more rewarding than looking upward.)

Another Day Brightener

Once again the morning is dull and gray.

A photo from summer past may help to lighten the depression:

It’s fun remembering the sunshine and the warmth!

Day Brightener

It’s turning into dull gray November early this year and today is about as dull and gray as it gets.

I hope this will brighten it up a bit…

A bit of stored sunshine from the summer!

Colour of Spring

With the rebirth that is Spring come colours seen only once a year.

The iridescent yellow-green of newly hatched leaves is one colour which rapidly fades as the leaves become adolescents.

Ski Sadness

The sun and the warm temperatures have beaten the ski hill to death extremely early this year.  No more local skiing this early in March.  It is sad to see the season ending so soon.

Perhaps there is something to this “Global Warming” thing!

Chasing Infinity?

The snowmobile tracks on Trout Lake appear to be chasing infinity.
