The snow is getting knocked down by the sun and the rock underneath can begin to breathe again.
But it won’t be bare before next week.

Near our place is a little bush that was planted some years ago.

The first mild winter day in weeks came yesterday. The spirits of people were raised significantly by the warmth and light, while strangers were nodding, smiling and saying “Hi” as they passed.
This gentleman had a pleasant job ambling around in the sunshine picking up bits of litter exposed by the slowly receding snow. We had a pleasant chat about photography after I made this photograph.

North Bay is blessed with an alpine ski hill situated inside town. The hill has been operating for over 50 years and has provided recreational opportunities for North Bay people, and at least two World Champions have grown up here and learned their craft.
Today was a busy day at the hill.

On Jan 7 this photo was made at -30 C. There was hope that the weather would moderate for the rest of the winter.
Faint hopes have been dashed by one of the colder winters to be remembered around here.
All that has changed is we now have more snow. Please tell me you believe in Spring!
