Oak leaves are often left by the tree to hang for the winter and so do not fall to the forest floor where they would be protected from the weather by the snow blanket.
They will finally drop when Spring arrives with new growth.

Spring appeared early last week with mild temperatures for a couple of days. The water ran and snow melted.

We’re back into winter for the next week or so. No water running. Everything is frozen again.
