On Christmas Night, a flying squirrel flew onto the bird feeder.
It munched away for a while, enjoying its Christmas Dinner.
Seemed appropriate, I think.

The first snows of the Winter are quite exciting, especially when the snow sticks and stays on everything for days.
Opportunity to show the delicacy of Nature abound.

In the Woods the trails wander
Among the trees and ponds, and so,
When trekking and the day is fair
The hard part is to know just where
To pause and sense the mood
That best expresses how one feels.
Around the bend one might fetch up
A memory,
A feeling.
Sad, happy, excited, nostalgic,
Put there in the mind
By past experience enjoyed,
Or missed, only to surface and make itself known.
Finally.

In the minds of many people an image is not “Art” unless produced by some hand process like painting, drawing, etc.
I have had many photographs receive the compliment, “Gee, it looks like a painting!”, as if somehow painted images (no matter how poorly done) are the gold standard by which images are judged.
“Looks just like a painting” is not a compliment to me.
Lately I have discovered some Photoshop processing the does a terrific job of changing a photograph into a watercolor style image. The processing is flexible enough that feeling and mood can be modified to express what I want to say.
Here are some images that started as photographs.

Lately the weather has been warm and the air calm.
Afternoons have been long and languid.
Sometimes the skies over Lake Nipissing have been dramatic.
