Symmetry

This house has always been a favourite.

There is a gentle and pleasing symmetry to its design.

In my mind it has a very English feel to it.

I am reminded of “The Wind in the Willows” whenever I see it.

Summers Past

Let your mind play with the memories.

Or invent a fishing story.

GAS

Spring is on the cusp of arrival.

The snow is tired and it is time for it to go.

Summer will come again.

Spring Activity

The very first warm sunny Sunday with its hint of spring brings activity back to the shores of our lake.

Fishing shacks are hauled off the ice before breakup.

The large flat area is perfect for flying model aircraft in calm wind.

Or sitting reading in the sun.

Curve

Our road was plowed and sanded yesterday morning.  Given the forecast for today and next week it looks like the last time this will be necessary this winter.

A bit too early in my opinion.  Another couple of weeks of crisp weather would be better for everyone.

Despite the grumbling.

The “New” Chief

The New Chief Commanda serves as a cruise boat on Lake Nipissing replacing the “Old Chief” which is now dry-docked as a restaurant on the North Bay Waterfront.  The “New” Chief was put into service in 1974 and will have its 38th birthday this year.  One might argue that it is approaching antique status.

Photographs made when she was young might well look like this now if they weren’t well cared for.

Directions

In the middle of nowhere it is good to have directions.

Now, where to spend the night?

Late

These leaves would be expected to be on the ground by now.

They provide some muted colour in the monochrome bush at this time of year.

When spring comes they will fall to be replaced by new greenery.

Modern Dancers?

The branches of Sumac bushes remind me of a troup of modern dancers.

Arms upraised, all angles and contortions.

Dressed in blue.

No two identical.  Each doing their own different thing but somehow similar to the others.

Bi-Skis & Wheelchairs

“Gone Skiing” is a great thing to be able to say when you are confined to a wheelchair.  The invention of these marvellous devices brings freedom and joy to those who are.

What a thrill to ride and slide!

Bush Walk

Another shot made in the bush near our place.

Bright sun, blue shadows, crisp day.

Spring is due in 18 days.  It will be sad to see this disappear.

Summer Memory

Sitting on the bench watching the ripples on the water and listening to the birds.

It’s going to happen again.
