The stump has charred areas which are evidence of a forest fire that passed through this area some years ago.

Freezing Rain
The snow yesterday afternoon had a bit of freezing rain in it.
The glass panels were glazed in a white sugar frosting.

Tenacity
Oak trees wait forever to drop their leaves. These should have fluttered to the ground about 5 months ago but they are still hanging on.
There has to be a prize for such tenacity.
