Spring Morning

This morning was marvellous.  Sun, no wind, not cold.

It rained last Thursday and Friday turning the snow on the ice to slush which then froze on Saturday.  The lake is now skateable for the most part.

An intrepid snowmobile driver tried the slush late Friday afternoon.  Snowmobiles and slush do not go well together.  The track has since frozen.  He had a very tough time going anywhere, but he succeeded.  His machine is not frozen into the lake anywhere near here.

Spring Snow

As spring approaches, the snow on the ground out front of my place takes on a new appearance.  Not quite fresh and a little tired.

The shadows have a bit more light in them because the sun is higher.  Another month and the ice will be off the lake.

Curves

The curves of the branches under the snow attracted me to this scene.

They will recover when the snow melts today.

On Hold

The maple keys will drop in a couple of days.  The new leaves are in shock.

No growth until the weather warms up.

Summer is coming.  Believe!

Yoda Lives!

Emerging ferns have a bit of a resemblance to Yoda?

Even his pointy ears are suggested…

Colour of Spring

With the rebirth that is Spring come colours seen only once a year.

The iridescent yellow-green of newly hatched leaves is one colour which rapidly fades as the leaves become adolescents.

Sunset Point Revealed

With the lake so low, a favourite summertime swimming spot reveals itself.

It’s a bit cold these days for that activity.

Spring Calm

Lake Nipissing is quite low these days.  More of the lake shore is uncovered at this time of year and new details are revealed.

The rock of the Pre-Cambrian Shield gives an ageless feeling to this photograph.
