We have been very impatient with the weather this Spring. It is taking forever for the ice to disappear.

It is a continual search for lunch when you are a bird.
The goldfinches have arrived to compete with the chickadees, the nuthatches and the purple finches.

Oak trees wait forever to drop their leaves. These should have fluttered to the ground about 5 months ago but they are still hanging on.
There has to be a prize for such tenacity.

Last year Trout Lake was ice-free on May 1.
About a month of winter to go if we’re lucky!
