The development of the North Bay Waterfront required the construction of a sheltered harbour for small craft. Rock that had been excavated when the NORAD underground site was built was moved from near Trout lake to the waterfront and dumped into Lake Nipissing to form the breakwall in the photograph.
The small boat marina has spaces for 250 craft.

The message, “sun, sand, relaxation, shelter, tradition, vacation, fun, summer”, is there.

When the weather is cold and it takes forever for the school bus to come, a little shelter is welcome.
Today it’s nicer to stand outside and wait.
I had a very pleasant conversation with the lady of the house. Turns out that she and her kids built it without male supervision. It’s a bit crooked and it needs some painting again but it has stood for four years and there are quite a few more left in it. Without doubt, it is a very cheery sight at the end of the day when the kids get off the bus.
