In the middle of nowhere it is good to have directions.
Now, where to spend the night?

Sitting on the bench watching the ripples on the water and listening to the birds.
It’s going to happen again.

It’s winter and we fish just about anywhere there’s ice.
Except in the arena or the curling club of course.

Snowmobiles are once again leaving tracks on Four Mile Bay. The ice is safe enough here for the machines to run around.
The snow acts as an insulator and makes ice growth slower even though the temperature was -27C this morning.
I don’t intend to go walking anywhere on the lake for at least another two weeks. Give it time to thicken up. Like, a foot and a half of ice would make me feel pretty confident.

Curves are everpresent in nature.
These reeds growing this past fall near my place have some of the most gentle and elegant curves to be seen

An afternoon on the North Bay Waterfront.
Photographs from the past often show a nostalgic time. Partly it’s the style of the photograph and the fact that they are often monochrome, but very often the yellowing of age that photos aquire as time passes is the main carrier of the nostalgic feeling. Fifty years from now these pictures which were made three days or so ago, might be interpreted in the same way by those viewing them.
“Ah, the good ‘ol days.”, could be one of the thoughts going through their minds.

Flat calm, warm, unusual Thanksgiving Weekend weather. Fall is here in spades!
Most cottage owners have gone back to the city. They will feel badly that they are missing this.

One Mile Bay is ice free!
But there is still ice hanging around in the main lake.
Perhaps tomorrow it will be gone.

This was the situation the other day at the end of One Mile Bay.
What I would like to be open water near the shore is still refrozen from last night and it’s nearly noon!
Also there is snow in tomorrow’s forecast.
Nothing to do but wait, I guess…
