I was in Playa Del Carmen Mexico last week to attend the wedding of my niece. We had a great time.
I made this photograph on the morning of the wedding, which was at high noon.

Summer finally arrived in North Bay yesterday.
There is still ice on the lake.
But it doesn’t matter.

The pavement past the tunnel connecting the North Bay Waterfront with Discovery North Bay and the Downtown Area has a uniquely Lake Nipissing shoreline look.
I am reminded of waves breaking on a beach and ripples in the sand that invariably form.

All summer, Lake Nipissing has been about 2 feet lower than it normally is. In past years, wet feet would have been necessary to produce this photograph.
The spring melt happened so early this year that water that would have been trapped in the ground ran off to the Great Lakes because the ground was still frozen. Nipissing was not able to catch up over the summer and despite recent, rains is still behind.

The water is low in Lake Nipissing at this time of year and so it’s possible to walk in places that are unavailable later in the summer.
Water would normally lap at the roots of these trees and the stony beach would be obscured.
When the warmth returns, the stark bones of the trees will be hidden with green.
