Chickadees stay over the winter.

It helps if there is a feeder full of Black Sunflower Seeds in the vicinity.

Migration

The birds know Winter is coming.

Sandhill Cranes make the trip to the warmer South in stages, pausing along the way to rest and glean the fields for food.

The opportunity to watch them and make photographs presents itself annually.

We are fortunate to be on the flyway and the presence of large farms in our area provides the resting spots.

It is family friendly, small enough that getting lost is not an issue. With well maintained trails, even those in wheelchairs can experience at least some of the fun it has to offer.
