Curve

Our road was plowed and sanded yesterday morning.  Given the forecast for today and next week it looks like the last time this will be necessary this winter.

A bit too early in my opinion.  Another couple of weeks of crisp weather would be better for everyone.

Despite the grumbling.

Reynn’s Road

Spring has come to Reynn’s Road.

The leaves are only a few days old and still have the yellow-green of youth.

They will become the hardened green of adulthood soon enough.

Spring Carpet

The forest floor near our place is beginning to fill in…

A green carpet for summer.

Maple Flowers

Nobody orders a bouquet of maple tree flowers from a florist.

But they are quite beautiful.

If only they were a little bigger!

Buds are opening on the trees…

Mother Earth has come through again.

Despite our best efforts to mess her up.

Birches

These white birches are in Laurier Woods.

In early spring there is nothing growing yet.

New life will explode in the next week.

Maples

These maples appear to have lived a full life.

Like the buildings in the distance.

Laurier Woods

Winter has bleached the bullrushes to brown.

Laurier Woods exists because forward thinking people have banded together to preserve this oasis in the middle of the city.  Small improvements such as this walkway make it accessable to everyone.

Ice Free

One Mile Bay is ice free!

But there is still ice hanging around in the main lake.

Perhaps tomorrow it will be gone.

Ice Out

The ice is going out of our lake after a long winter.  Last night the effects of warmer temperatures and sunshine along with some rain became evident as the frozen solid skin on the lake broke down.

A light wind moved pans of ice by our place and the tinkling buzz of the pans rubbing gently against each other was gentle music.

The last gasp of winter produces beautiful long crystals of ice that are unique.

Beautiful stuff goes on all the time in the real world.  If you blink you miss it…
