Red Brick

I grew up with red brick houses.

Had I been born on the Prairies, I suppose I would not have had the exposure to the warmth and regular patterns of brick walls.  Brick is rare out there.

New home construction these days uses almost no brick, opting instead for other materials.  The brick facade (front wall brick, the rest siding) seen on some houses is the ultimate in fraudulent design.

Is brick laying a dying art?

Bus Shelter II

Last March this Bus Shelter attracted my attention.

Yesterday I made another photograph of it covered in snow.  Just for fun I applied some different filters to produce this result.

Northern Ontario art?

No Talent

The Big Brains with the spray cans have another recruit.

This one has so little talent that he/she won’t last long.

The term “Grafitti Artist” is a joke when used here.

Urge to Decorate

The urge to decorate causes people to succumb to their artistic instinct in the fall.  Perhaps the ready availabilty of brightly coloured items from nature is what fuels it.

I saw this today:

I must admit I’m partial to bright fall colours as well.

If I Were a Rabbit

The kids who gardened in Sweetman’s Garden this summer have a sense of humour…

…and artistic ability as well!

Were I a rabbit, I’d certainly take advantage!

More Art

This guy is living on the wall of one of the alleys here.

Just around the corner from Jack and Doug!

You don’t think it could be one of them?

Naaahhh…

Ice Follies

On the ice of Lake Nipissing is an intriguing exhibition of structures and installation art.  Several interesting pieces stand in the sun, wind, snow, cold, dark, to provide messages and analyses of our world.
