One of My Favourite Trees

This fellow sits quietly beside Peninsula Road all year, going unnoticed until a morning like yesterday. The snow falls and sticks to his branches and suddenly his big chance arrives.

One Mile Bay this morning on the shortest day of the year.

One Mile Snow

Ice is slowly forming. The delicacy of the scene is enchanting.

Last Fall Walk

Tomorrow is the first day of Winter. This afternoon was our last time to take an autumn walk on the road. So we did.

Shortest day is tomorrow. Then we start climbing up the year.

Four Mile Morning

Four Mile Bay this past November 3.

Four Mile Morning

It looks very similar today. Except it’s windy and there are waves.

Still lots of liquid water, no ice.

Rat Fink

In the 1990’s, Political Correctness reared its head and Dad’s Run was renamed Rat Fink. Dad’s run could be avoided by taking Mom’s Run which was a road around to the bottom and much easier. Some Moms took offense at this coddling and raised their voices. So the runs were renamed. I will always know this run as “Dad’s” but others now call it by a different name.

Lectures have been delivered from various locations (usually about half way down)  to those at the bottom of the run.

Rat Fink Freq

The unique pattern of the runs of Seventh Heaven on Blackcomb Mountain is across the Fitzsimmons Valley.
