Migration

The birds know Winter is coming.

Sandhill Cranes make the trip to the warmer South in stages, pausing along the way to rest and glean the fields for food.

The opportunity to watch them and make photographs presents itself annually.

We are fortunate to be on the flyway and the presence of large farms in our area provides the resting spots.

A Visit To Laurier Woods

Laurier Woods is an area of bush and beaver ponds in our town. It is easily accessible and provides a “wilderness” experience on the edge of our metropolis. It is family friendly, small enough that getting lost is not an issue. With well maintained trails, even those in wheelchairs can experience at least some of the fun it has to offer.

Summer Colour

The colours of Summer are magnified by bright days and a visit to a garden.

Quiet Place

There is a small cemetery in Feronia which provides a quiet, tranquil resting place for many who pioneered the area.

It is situated on a small knoll surrounded by bush. Much like what the first people to move into the area found when they arrived.

Visit To An Old Friend

Duchesnay Creek drops over the escarpment north of our town on its way to Lake Nipissing.

Over many years and many visits, it has provided multiple opportunities to preserve in photographs and memory the uniqueness that is our part of the world.

No two encounters are ever the same.

Late Summer

By late summer there isn’t much water flowing over Duchesnay Falls.

What roars in Spring has become gentle as the Season ages.

Late August Afternoon

The weather has turned away from Summer.

Cooler these days, and more comfortable.

The strong greens of August are replaced with wilder colours of Autumn.
