Duet

Pete and Paulie are two local bald eagles who have been in the same nest for at least the last ten years.

They spend the winter here and every spring two or three new little bald eagles enter the world in their nest.

Right now it is waiting time and discussions take place.

A conversation happened the other day and I was fortunate enough to be able to eavesdrop.

I’m not sure what the resolution was, but they then turned their backs and gazed off into space.

Eagles

Over the past 10 years or so, Bald Eagles have been moving into the area.

Previously they were rarely seen. Nowadays, sightings are becoming more and more common and the locations of the nests are becoming known.

Rare Bird

In this part of the world we don’t see many bald eagles but there is a family on Lake Nosbonsing. The nest has two young eagles that look almost ready to fledge. Mom and dad are busy providing the necessities of life for the young birds.

Mom put up with me for a couple of minutes the other day but her patience wore thin and she took off.
