Blue Jays out my Window
The Blue Jays come to visit the feeder and before they make a run for the peanuts, they sit in the trees and consider their chances.
They are very wary, but always successful.

Birds on Nosbonsing
For whatever reason, this summer has seen a real paucity of wildlife on the shores of Lake Nosbonsing.
This morning I took some time in the boat and went looking for shorebirds. There are lots of gulls and cormorants but the population of Great Blue Herons and Kingfishers has been sparse all summer.
I got lucky today in that I spied a kingfisher on a perch who permitted me two shots from long distance before he flew off.
A blue heron flew in and landed nearby giving me a chance to sneak up on him a bit, but he was quite wary.
This is only the fourth Heron that I have seen on the lake this summer. Most other summers they are quite plentiful.
Is this the “New Normal”?
