Annette’s Kitchen

I passed through Field on Saturday afternoon to visit a little craft festival nearby.  The hamlet has seen better times but still hangs on.  One casualty is this restaurant building which I suppose is just waiting for demolition, judging from the missing hydro meter and the decaying foundation.

Annette's Kitchen

Good food and good times happened here but life goes on, leaving warm memories in its wake.

Still, it’s sad when these changes happen.

Cycle of Life, I guess.

Disaster

Two nights ago the Cochrane Block, built in 1911 on North Bay’s Main Street, burned.

Two businesses occupied this building.  Lefebvre’s Sports on this end and Vested Interest in the back of the building which opens onto McIntyre Street.  Both businesses suffered devastating fire damage.

It seems that old buildings in downtowns everywhere suffer the same fate on a regular basis.  It is always heart-rending when they do.

The pain lasts forever.
