Now encased in concrete never to sail again, the “Old Chief” has been turned into a pleasant and unique restaurant.
A great spot to stop for refreshment on the North Bay Waterfront.

Nipissing History
The old Chief Commanda served as a cruise boat on Lake Nipissing for many years. It is now dry-docked on the waterfront and serves as a restaurant and fresh pickerel market.
It was replaced by the “New Chief” in about 1974.

The “New” Chief
The New Chief Commanda serves as a cruise boat on Lake Nipissing replacing the “Old Chief” which is now dry-docked as a restaurant on the North Bay Waterfront. The “New” Chief was put into service in 1974 and will have its 38th birthday this year. One might argue that it is approaching antique status.
Photographs made when she was young might well look like this now if they weren’t well cared for.
