Darwin Research Station

A few shots from The Darwin Research Station in Puerto Ayora.

Unfortunately, we visited on a Sunday and none of the buildings housing the exhibits were open.

The Rules

Follow these Rules that Galapagos may be preserved for the future.

Tortoise II

More Galapagos Tortoise photos.

These photos were made at Rancho El Manzanillo on Santa Cruz Island. This is a “farm/preserve” where these lovely animals are free to roam the property and visitors can see them up close. I worked hard resisting the urge to say, “E.T. Call Home!” No touching, riding or sudden moves are the basic rules. This is their home.

Galapagos Tortoise

Just plain impressive.

ET Call Home

The sheer size and gentle nature of these animals makes our historical treatment of them a very sad tale of human activity and greed.
