Memories of Summer

These variations on Brown Eyed Susans were growing in a garden south of the Wassi Road.

Meet Ozzy

The latest of a line of cats that have inhabited our house since the mid-sixties is Ozzy.

A member of our family for the past six months, Ozzy has changed from timid kitten to timid cat.  He has discovered the outdoors and spends a lot of time there.

He tends to scare small animals but aside from the moles that have had the misfortune to come in contact with him, he has not demonstrated much hunting ability.

Splash of Colour

The farmhouse is reminiscent of the brightly painted dwellings found in Newfoundland.

Callander Bay

A bit south of my town is Callander Bay and the town of Callander.  (Made famous by the Dionne Quints in the 1930’s and 40’s)

Summer Moods

Some days this past summer were quite dramatic on our Lake.

Despite all of the squawking about lousy weather, sometimes it was very exciting!

Wild Flowers of Summer

There is much rural colour in my part of the world during the summer.  The unromantic name of the plant producing these little flowers is “Spreading Dogbane” or “Indian Hemp”.

Somehow the name doesn’t convey the delicacy of the minature blooms.

My friend thinks this version works better for him.  Perhaps it’s the better choice.

Fresh New Week

A photo made this past summer:

Lavase River Voyageur Route West

Lavase River Voyageur Route West

This is the mouth of the Lavase River where it enters Lake Nipissing.  For one hundred years or so, the fur trade canoe route from Montreal to the West passed by this place.

This plaque is mounted on a rock cairn next to the river.

Nice to be close to history.

More Grey Days

For the next eight days the forecast is dreary, cold and wet. Just like the last five.
But it did get pleasant in the past month.

Lonnng Summer and Dreary Too

Haven’t posted in some time but I’ve been busy making too many photos.  Summer was dull and cool but there were some days worth getting out to shoot.

A couple of shots from around my town recently:
